I really like the premise of this book but it just didn t uite do it for me I guess I was kind of hoping for projects that would be fun to do with my kids someday but most of the things in this book are either too technical or too boring ie why would I bother As I read the book none of the projects made me think oooh I want to do that it was meh I guess that s kind of coolI would probably make the liuid N2 ice cream sometime but already knew how to do that But a gravy fountain Various adult beverages Probably not The modular pecan pie was pretty nifty Ill admitSo long story short I probably wouldn t come back to this book if I was in a DIYmaker mood There s plenty of good stuff at instructablescom that would scratch that itch better than this particular volumeRating PG 13 for a couple of photos of the edible caramel lingerie and plenty of references to drinking

There are some nifty projects to check out in here but they are just a bit complicated for the average person I m definitely intrigued by the projects using dry ice though they sound like a lot of fun This is a uniue book to browse through and would appeal the techies and tinkerers so than the foodies

I am not a Techie Tinkerer or Foodie but the premise sounded interesting and I was expecting fun experiments I could try and possibly share with my Girl Guides The book wasn t uite what I was expecting It s for adults and those who know a lot about technology I know how to do most things on a computer and I wrote a VERY simple program once but I couldn t follow most of the instructions There are a couple of mini projects throughout the book and those are the only ones I could probably do If you are looking for a book with experiments ranging from somewhat complicated to complicated with a lot of steps that you can eat when it s done then this book would be a 4 Star book It wasn t what I was expecting though and was too advanced for me which is why I rated it 12 a star less Here are just some of the experiments you will learn how to do Cryogenic Ice CreamModular Pecan PieLight Up LollipopsDry Ice MartinisCaramel LingerieBrew Beer from Scratch That s just a few You can also find tons on the Hungry Scientist Blog Only two authors are listed on the book but the experiments were designed and tested by a group of 13 including one child Most of the experiments are for adults only with a few that could be done with children if given LOTS of help and supervision I must say it was a very INTERESTING book
